20 April 2020, Moscow, Russia. M.Video and Eldorado retail chains (M.Video-Eldorado Group, PJSC M.Video, MOEX: MVID), part of the SAFMAR Group owned by Mikhail Gutseriev, have announced a partnership with X5 Retail Group to launch a pick-up service for online orders. Residents of Moscow and the Moscow Region will now be able to pick up their electronic items purchased at mvideo.ru or eldorado.ru from more than 2,000 pick-up points and parcel lockers at Pyaterochka proximity stores. If proved a success, the project may be scaled across Russia’s other cities and towns.

M.Video launched a new channel for delivering orders placed via website or mobile app. The new service will allow customers to pick up their orders at Pyaterochka proximity stores after selecting this option while placing order. The project offering a pick-up of online electronics orders from food chain stores will be piloted in Moscow and the Moscow Region, with more than 2,000 pick-up points available. Eldorado will soon adopt this pick-up format as well. Partnership with X5 Retail Group will add new regions to Group’s pick-up delivery, for some of the Moscow Region communities, it will be the first time they will benefit from this type of delivery. If the project is a success in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Yekaterinburg and Rostov-on-Don are likely to be next on the list; the partners could scale it up across the country.

This type of delivery is available for any prepaid orders of relatively small electronic items under 15 kg with a packaging size of up to 50 cm in width, height or length. These may range from digital devices, smartphones, laptops, accessories, small appliances for home, kitchen or health and beauty care to medium-size microwave ovens and coffee machines – a choice from over 10,000 SKUs. The new service will be free of charge for orders starting at RUB 999, with delivery times to average 2-3 days in the Moscow metropolitan area. Parcels will be stored for 7 days and available for pick-up upon entering or providing the code received by text or email. The exchange and return policy for orders delivered to pick-up points, including the time limits, is the same as for regular purchases, meaning that customer requests will be handled directly by M.Video or Eldorado.

“Our website’s traffic has doubled over the last month, app installations rose 2.5x times. Mindful of the current circumstances, we are doing our best to establish a quick and safe process for our customers to buy electronics they need. Unlocking new formats of cooperation with other companies is part of the plan. By using local food stores to pick up items ordered online from M.Video or Eldorado, our customers will be able not only to save time, but also to protect their and their loved ones’ health by further limiting social contact and reducing trips around the city,” commented M.Video’s managing director Dagmara Ivanova.

The project's operator is 5Post, a subsidiary of X5 Retail Group focused on delivery from online stores and marketplaces to its 8,500 pick-up points and 1,000 parcel lockers in 1,800 cities and towns. 5Post is responsible for logistics and parcel handover, taking orders from the Group’s warehouses to X5’s distribution centre and then to in-store pick-up points.

“Currently, last mile solutions are the most in-demand services on the market. We see it as our priority to ensure comfort and high quality of online deliveries to the sales points nearest to customers. We’re happy to provide 5Post infrastructure and logistics solutions to our new partner – M.Video-Eldorado Group – enabling thousands of customers to get goods they need and without delays despite difficult epidemiological situation”, said 5Post managing director Vitaly Dyrdasov.

M.Video and Eldorado ensure contactless delivery and pick-up from their own stores, which now operate as pick-up points for online orders unless otherwise resolved by the respective shopping malls or stipulated in their internal regulations. For details on each store, please visit M.Video's or Eldorado’s websites (in Russian). We encourage contactless payment and provide an extra 5% discount on prepaid online orders. This ensures that parcels are delivered and handed over in the safest way possible, without using any cash or bank cards.
